Not only does the camera allow the crane operator to work more efficiently, it also contributes to safety on the workplace. With an Orlaco camera system, the crane operator does not solely depend on the indicator’s instructions.

Optimised site management: according to tests conducted on a construction site, the speed of cranes carrying out “blind” lifting operations using an Orlaco camera system is 21% greater than that of cranes not using this system.

Loadview camera : secured to the tip of the telescopic boom, it is directly oriented downwards, i.e. towards the hook and the load. The crane operator obtains at all times a very clear image of hook position on the colour screen located in the crane cab. If necessary, he can zoom in on the hook to obtain a more detailed image.
Winchview camera : On the largest types of mobile telescopic cranes with very heavy lifting counterweights or double hooks, the view of the winches is extremely limited from the cab. The monitor used to observe the load can thus also be used to observe the Winchview camera.
Rearview camera : A Rearview camera is installed at the far rear of the vehicle, thus allowing the crane operator to clearly see what is behind the crane.
Sideview camera : A Sideview camera installed at the front of the cab helps the crane operator to turn the crane. Last but not least, the system can be completed by a navigation system allowing the crane operator to move as quickly as possible from one site to another.

Backreach camera : The backreach camera is mounted on the platform of the rear lip. While it cannot be seen by the crane operator, it is used by the operational and logistics ground teams, via a network application, to observe the working area under the crane. A camera mounted on a motorised turret, remotely controlled, offers them an unobstructed view of the entire working area on the quay.

Installation of compact cameras (CCC) at the feet of the crane guarantees that the crane operator always has good visibility when he moves to the left or right. The four cameras can be converted into a quadruple view when the vehicle is stopped, and the views of the two cameras required can be displayed in a shared screen when moving to the left or right, thus considerably reducing the risk of accidents.
Latchviewcamera : The jib is raised when the crane is not in operation. A Latchview camera is secured right at the top, near the locking point, thus allowing the crane operator to monitor the locking function at all times.

To provide the most suitable solution, Arcure engineers analysed the circumstances of many real collisions in order to determine the ideal characteristics of Blaxtair®. Its main sensor is a stereoscopic camera specifically developed by Arcure and designed to withstand harsh environments. The performance of Blaxtair® is based on patented image processing technologies, developed more than 15 years ago by researchers in the CEA (Atomic Energy Commission). They allow Blaxtair® to detect pedestrians in a reliable and robust manner in all public works and mining environments.

  Blaxtair® scans the hazardous area continuously. Thanks to its stereoscopic sensor, it reconstitutes in three dimensions the vehicle environment and detects all obstacles, stationary and mobile alike. It then scans these obstacles to determine their type.
If it identifies a pedestrian and if the vehicle trajectory involves a collision risk, it immediately alerts the driver who can then react in time. The whole process only lasts a fraction of a second. Thus a pedestrian that the vehicle driver did not see will not escape the vigilance of Blaxtair®

  All vehicle drivers know that the classic obstacle detection systems (radars, ultrasound) are more often a nuisance than a help. Vehicles nearly always work in the proximity of miscellaneous objects that it is useless to point out: a compactor moving along a kerb, a safety barrier or a wall, a loader reversing down a ramp, an excavator digging near a wall or bank, a demolition machine in the middle of rubble, etc. In all cases, a classic device would continuously sound an alarm, whereas Blaxtair® only does so if a pedestrian is in danger.

Blaxtair® is a smart onboard camera helping to prevent accidents between pedestrians and construction site vehicles. Combined with good practices and organisational safety measures, it is the only effective and reliable answer to the safety requirements of the construction, road works and mining sectors. Blaxtair® detects all obstacles and recognises pedestrians by their shape. In event of imminent danger for a person, it alerts the vehicle driver who can then react and avoid a collision.
