Among the standards available for machine design, the NF EN ISO 13849-1 standard allows to deal with safety control systems using different types of power such as electric, hydraulic or pneumatic. It describes the general principles for the control systems design regarding the safety.
The standard defines 5 possible performance levels for a control system, which range from PL “a” to PL “e”. The higher the PL level, the more efficient is the safety function. It is reducing the risk of its use.
The PL performance level certificate, described in the standard, requires a strict demonstration and validation by a certified company.
Depending on the product ranges developed, Ascorel® is able to offer solutions up to the level of PLd category 3 according to standard EN13849-1 and therefore ensure a high level of safety for its users.
